Who we are


Oisin Kelly, BSc MArborA, MAE

Arboricultural Consultant


Oisin graduated with an honours degree in Forestry from the University of Aberdeen in 1990. He spent six years as a local authority Tree Officer before moving into the private sector in 1997, since when he has held
various consulting, consultant, expert and managerial roles. During this time Oisin gained a breadth of experience across various areas of arboriculture, including:

  • trees in the planning process: development control; tree preservation orders; conservations areas
  • tree-related subsidence
  • tree-risk management
  • utility arboriculture
  • trees and aviation, e.g. target tree management


Oisin became self-employed in early 2015, before co-founding Aborterra Ltd in 2019 with Jo Wild.


Oisin acts as an Expert Witness, including Single Joint Expert, in relation to:

  • tree-related subsidence,
  • tree-related property damage and personal injury,
  • alleged contraventions of tree preservation orders and felling licenses.


Oisin has appeared in Magistrates Court, County Court and High Court (Technology and Construction Court). He has provided written representations on planning appeals and has appeared at planning Hearings . 


Jo Wild, MALA

Landscape Architect


Jo has worked in landscape design since 2010, working in a multidisciplinary consultancy and previously running a gardening company. Obtaining a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture in 2013, Jo has since concentrated on Landscape Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs). During this time, she has made assessments for innovative design in rural locations, sustainable energy projects and visual impact of development in built up areas. Jo has gained a breadth of experience across various areas of landscape architecture, including:

  • Designing manageable soft works schemes that provide both biodiversity and aesthetic appeal;
  • Hard landscaping in both rural and city locations;
  • Green roofs for biodiversity and garden schemes;
  • Landscape appraisals appropriate to scale of development;
  • LVIAs for medium and large-scale developments including residential, horticultural and industrial schemes in protected landscapes;
  • Woodland creation and nature walks;
  • Small scale garden design
  • Urban Greening Factor (UGF) calculations and report
  • Designing for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).


Jo became self-employed in early 2014, before co-founding Arborterra Ltd in 2019 with Oisin Kelly.
